Summer Wilderness Trip Leader | Report to Program Director

Summer Wilderness Trip Leaders facilitate off-site travel programs including sea kayaking and rock climbing rooted in the Camp Stevens mission statement. Wilderness Trip Leaders work together to build an engaging and adventurous community among participants.

The ideal wilderness trip leader will have experience teaching and leading ocean kayaking and/or outdoor rock climbing. Wilderness Trip Leaders work in teams of two and the teams consist of staff with complimentary certifications and experience to lead all scheduled trips. Assistant Chef | Reports to Food Service Director

Camp Stevens is hiring an assistant chef who has a passion for preparing nourishing and delicious food for groups of up to 100. This is a unique opportunity for an organized, self-motivated and independent person who enjoys working with people in a natural setting to learn and grow in a professional, community based and environmentally conscious camp kitchen.

The assistant chef is responsible for assisting the food services director in the day-to-day operation of the camp kitchen including regular food preparation and baking, supervision of staff, maintaining health department standards and meeting the standards of accreditation for the American Camp Association.

Qualified applicants will have two years’ experience in a commercial kitchen and an interest in learning about sustainable food management. This individual must take initiative, working in a structured as well as creative environment, which caters to a variety of populations, from formal adult events to the summer camp kids and staff.  Applicants must also have or have the ability to obtain a food handlers card and First Aid and CPR certification.

Kitchen Assistant | Reports to Food Service Director

Camp Stevens is hiring a kitchen assistant. This is a unique opportunity for an organized, self-motivated team player who enjoys working with people to learn and grow in a professional, community-based and environmentally-conscious camp kitchen.

Responsibilities include assisting the food service director and assistant chef in the day-to-day operation of the camp kitchen, including: Preparing meals from scratch using mostly organic ingredients and produce from the camp gardens (when in season), preparing meals for groups of 20-150 persons, and working to help make the camp’s farm-to-table cuisine better every day.    

Some experience working in a commercial kitchen is desired. An interest in sustainable and healthy food is desired and the ability to obtain a food handler’s card, First Aid, and CPR is required. Benefits include health insurance, vacation and salary. Meals and onsite housing are provided and required.

Year-Round Resident Staff | Report to Program Director

Ever wonder what happens at Camp Stevens during the fall, winter, and spring seasons? Join us as a Resident Staff Member and find out! Resident Staff lead youth and adult groups, act as a liaison and host to weekend groups, maintain the facilities and grounds, and participate in a working and living community. Resident Staff serve ten months to two years, living and working on-site in the camp community. Read the job description for more information. Benefits include health/dental/vision insurance, paid vacation and a monthly stipend. Meals and on-site housing are provided and are a requirement of the position. Staff works an average of 5 days per week.
